    Biography

    Professor James S. Skinner is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Kinesiology at Indiana University and a globally recognized leader in exercise science, physical activity, training, and health.

    He has held major international leadership roles, including President of the American College of Sports Medicine, Chair of the International Advisory Council for Exercise is Medicine, Vice President of the International Council on Sport Sciences and Physical Education, and Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee of the YMCA of the USA.

    Professor Skinner was one of the five principal investigators of the HERITAGE Family Study, a landmark multicenter study examining genetic factors influencing training responses related to cardiovascular disease and diabetes risk. He has contributed to research grants totaling more than $50 million, published over 317 articles and book chapters, authored or translated 8 books, and produced 21 educational DVDs.

    He has lectured in English, French, German, and Spanish across 69 countries and has received major honors including the ACSM Honor Award, Doctor Honoris Causa from Semmelweis University, and the ACSM-EIM Global Leadership Award.
